NILE CRUISE with Kate Adie
ITINERARY
DAY 1 Depart Heathrow 1500 on EgyptAir, arriving Luxor 2130. Transfer to Nile Lily for six nights.
DAY 2 Excursion to Valley of the Kings (tombs of Horemheb, Seti I and Ramses III), Temple of Hatshepsut (mortuary temple of 15th century Egyptian queen), sandstone Colossi of Memnon (West Bank). Afternoon: vast temple complex of Karnak and Temple of Luxor (Avenue of Sphinxes).
DAY 3 Cruise along Nile to Temple of Khnum (great hypostyle hall) at Esna.
DAY 4 Cruise along Nile to Temple of Horus (most complete of all Egyptian temples) at Edfu.
DAY 5 Cruise to Kom Ombo for visits to temples of Sobek and Haroeris.
DAY 6 Morning cruise to Aswan then by motor boat to Agilika Island (superb Ptolemaic monuments including Temple of Isis), followed by visits to Aswan High Dam (one of engineering wonders of the world) and ancient granite quarries.
DAY 7 Optional excursion by air to Abu Simbel: Great Temple of Ramses II on shores of Lake Nasser. Afternoon: disembark Nile Lily and transfer to Aswan for flight to Cairo with overnight at the five star Sonesta Hotel, close to the airport.
DAY 8 Depart Cairo at 0940, arriving Heathrow 1300.
